SPOLIA NECKLACE series
Each necklace is a singular, un-reproducible work produced from material fragments and deconstructed parts from the architectural archive of the artist's grandfather, Clive Entwistle.
Drawing from the historical practice of ‘spolia’ in architecture; the borrowing of materials from earlier structures, the necklaces are an act of adaptive reuse. The redundant parts have been reconfigured into objects that sit between sculptural abstraction and purposeful design. First exhibited in the home of Le Corbusier’s home in Paris, as elements of a site specific installation; He was my father, and I was an atom of him, destined to grow into him, Fondation Le Corbusier, Paris in 2015.
